Chandigarh August 3: The General Election to the SGPC were last held in the year of 2004 and now the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs has fixed 18th September 2011 as the date for holding poll of the next SGPC elections.
Programme for the purpose of holding election on the 18th September 2011 in accordance with the provisions of rule 13 of the Sikh Gurdwara Board Election Rules 1959 will be notified in the relevant state gazettes of the states of Punjab, Haryana , Himachal Pardesh and Union Territory , Chandigarh. The copies of the notification to be so issued indicating dates for various stages of the election programme will be available for the information of the public at the office of the returning officer concerned, that of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of the district and Tehsil office etc.
The Nomination papers in the prescribed form IV can be submitted to the concerned returning officer from 4/8/2011 to 11/8/2011. Copies of the prescribed forms of the nomination paper will be available with the concerned returning officers. Persons interested in contesting SGPC election are therefor, advised to submit their nomination papers duly filled in alongwith the receipt of deposit prescribed under rule 16 of the rules ibid, to the concerned returning officer between 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. on all the days between 4/8/2011to 11/8/2011 except on holidays declared as such under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
