All Industries and Trade Forum condemns PSPCL

Ludhiana, Aug 1: A meeting of All Industries and Trade Forum was held today under Narinder Bhamra and Badish Jindal and condemned PSPCL for the failure of procurement of Power to the Industry in Punjab.
The  meeting observed that the PSPCL is following the policy of dictatorship as they forcefully stopped the Furnace & Rolling Mill units by stopping them to procure the power directly from the Northern Grid.
They have imposed a power cut on 3 days on Furnace & Rolling Mill Industry; earlier these units were free to purchase power in open access during power cuts,
Then PSPCL restricted them to purchase only 50% power during these power cuts.
But in the latest notification the PSPCL restricted them not to purchase any power in open access.
The daily production of Steel in Punjab is more than 72 crores (18000 Tons) per day and this is direct loss of 4 crore revenue per day to the State Government and 8 crore to the Central Government.
This also resulted in the enhancement of Prices of Steel by 4% in just a week.
It is strange to know that this is happening in the election year in which the Chairman of PSPCL and the Government were assuring the uninterrupted power supply to the Industry.
The General Industry is also forced to cut down their production for one day in a week.
Under such circumstances it is very difficult for the Industry to survive as the production costs enhanced to more than 10% due to these power cuts.
It was a general view of the present members that the Government had failed to serve the industry in a right spirit.
It was decided that more than 80000 workers are forced to stop working three days a week and indirectly this is affecting more then 150000 workers in Punjab.
The Industry had left with no option then to shift to the other States for their survival.
In the meeting, K. K Garg, Raj Kumar Singla, Bhushan Abbi, Surjit Singh Nota and Sanjeev Malli were present.
